Terms of use
Last updated
In short: pay for what you use, be honest with the people around you, and do not rely on machine translation when a mistake could cause harm.
What Talk‑si does
Talk‑si listens to speech and shows a live translation. It helps you follow what people around you are saying. It is a tool, not a human interpreter, and does not claim to replace one.
Your account
Each account is for one person. You can sign in on several devices and run more than one session at the same time. Keep your email account secure: anyone who can read a code sent to it can sign in to your Talk‑si account.
Balance
You pay in advance and use your balance by the second, only while translations are arriving. You do not pay for time when no translation arrives, and your balance cannot go below zero. Any unused balance stays in your account.
The people around you
Talk‑si records speech from people around you. Depending on where you are, you may need to tell them or get their permission, and the law may require this. You are responsible for doing so. Do not use Talk‑si to translate someone who would object.
Translations can be wrong
Speech recognition and translation can make mistakes, even when a caption appears certain. Do not rely on Talk‑si when a mistake could have serious consequences. Use a human interpreter in medical, legal, financial, and emergency situations.
Availability
Talk‑si depends on your internet connection and on a speech service that we do not control. It may be slow or stop working. We provide it as it is and do not promise that it will work at all times.
Fair use
Do not try to damage or overload Talk‑si, and do not resell it. Do not use it illegally or use another person's account.
Account suspension
We may suspend an account that is used against these terms. Any balance left in the account still belongs to you and will be returned.
Responsibility
We are responsible for the service we provide and the balance in your account. We are not responsible for decisions you make after reading a translation. Where the law allows us to limit our responsibility, the limit is the amount you have paid into your balance.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. When we do, we update the date at the top. If you continue to use Talk‑si, the new terms apply to you.
